Dave Grohl, Ashton Kutcher, and Fred Armisen SNL skit on middle aged punks
Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters/Nirvana/Them Crooked Vultures joined Ashton Kutcher and Fred Armisen in a Saturday Night Live sketch that had a group of middle aged fathers reliving their glory days in a punk band and performing a song called "Fist Fight in the Parking Lot" which some may recognize as some sort of hybrid of Black Flag's "TV Party" and Suicidal Tendencies' "Institutionalized."
hahaha -
You beat me to it. Capn Brad posted it on FB the other day, and the youtube one is already deleted cuzza copyright.
Donnie G sez he wants to cover the tunes. (i assume Grohl wrote them) I vote YEAH!
I wonder how many of us thought about the possibility of this humor being about the likes of us 30 years ago. Next stop: the Old Punks' Home. It's got a stage/recording studio, with an ample supply of walkers, canes and wheelchairs to replace the ones that get mangled in the pit.
Ya... If we make it there.I just got back from Stewert Taggarts funeral. He was only 44. Everybody used to call him the TSOL mascot back in the early days. He had a lot of friends at the funeral. I saw Gabby there too he looked like he was doing a lot better. Not all the way up to par but doing better.
I heard about Stewart - so young. So sad!
Never thought that in my 40's - pretty young still - i'd be having to break the news SO often. (I personally lost two on that same day.)
But we were kids in some of the wildest times ever. Some of that fun came with a price. No regrets, i hope.
And it's never too late to get a new lease on life. I'm personally tired of watching drugs (and the longterm effects) pick away the lives of cool humans. I have begun to equate that kind of fun with self-inflicted slow death.
Makes me think of that scene from Harold and Maude, when Maude says:
"A lot of people enjoy being dead. But they are not dead, really. They're just backing away from life. *Reach* out. Take a *chance*. Get *hurt* even. But play as well as you can. Go team, go! Give me an L. Give me an I. Give me a V. Give me an E. L-I-V-E. LIVE! Otherwise, you got nothing to talk about in the locker room."
This is the first I heard of this. Stewart used to hang out at Harris Studio's with us, and he was on Mark Harris's motorcycle in that accident by the Nest in '79.
While we were standing around watching the paramedics work on Mark, a motor cop heard moans coming from the back of a parked truck, and looked inside and there was Stewey!--injured, but alive. Nobody, even knew he was riding with mark when the accident went down.
And steve is right. He was jack's right hand man mascot. Went to all the shows, and was always down for a gig. I think his parents entered him into the ROC center in C.M. and, I never heard much or saw him again.
I haven't heard that name in years!
Thanks for the update. RIP little stewey.

Yep Stewey is gone. I was going to post A copy of the pictur and the sticker they gave out at the service yesterday but I can't figure out what the fuck is going on with my Photo Bucket. I can scan stuff in but it won't give me the link codes.
I have a lot of shit on it and don't want to start over on another one. I guess I will start new stuff on a new site but I hate to do the other shit all over. I wanted to post more flipside that I have on it at least I don't have all that in yet. I will be doing 1982-84 and that's it. Takes too long to do that shit. It's half way there so I will at least do that.
Anyway Stewart had friends you wouldn't think he had. Even the guys from Blink 182, some of Bad Religion, NOFX, a lot of others and of course all the local bands as well as the whole crew from Warp tour were there. He had been booking busses for Bands to go on tour tours since he left working for Pennywise and a few others. The last time I saw him was at Warp Tour last summer. I talked to him for a bit he said he was so fucking busy and was working too much. Guess it caught up with him. He passed away in his sleep. His wife woke up and he was gone...R.I.P. Stewart.
